Name of card: Bitgoeul card (Maibi Card)

• The bitgoeul card is a pre-paid card (Maibi card) that can be used permanently by recharging it as long as the card is not damaged.
• This card can be used for both intra-city bus and subway.
• If you use a traffic card, you can transfer to another bus with no additional charge (only once within one hour after boarding a bus; same bus line is exempted from the free transfer)

Types of card: 4 types (General, middle and high school student, university students and children)

• University students receive discounts when they use the subway but the fare for the bus is the same as the general fare
• Student cards for middle and high school students, healthcare insurance card or resident registration (or abstract of it) for children are required when they want to buy a discount ticket.

Things to remember when you transfer

• You must touch the card reader at the subway station in order to get a free transfer to the bus.
• One card provides free transfer for only one person.
• The free transfer service does not apply to a transfer between same the same modes of transportation. (Ex : Subway ~ subway ; bus No. 01 ~ Bus No. 01)
• You cannot use the bus or subway if your card does not have enough money for the fare (Including transfer).
• The free transfer service does not apply to those paying with cash or a ticket.
• The free transfer service does not apply to the transfer between the Jeollanam-do intra-city bus and the airport limousine.
  * Jeollanamdo intra-city buses that run in Gwangju :
  No. 100, 150, 160, 160-1, 180, 180-1, 200, 217, 218, 225, 303, 311, 318, 322, 500
• Be careful! You may be unable to pay the fare or may be double charged if you have 2 traffic cards in your wallet.

• Service hours: On weekdays 09:00~19:00 / Services are not provided on weekends and holidays

Free exchange of traffic card

• You can exchange your card for a new one at no additional charge within one year after purchasing the card if there is no fault attributable to you regarding the malfunction, cutting or damage of the card.
  * You cannot exchange a card because you have changed your mind. You will need to buy a new card in this case.
