Designed to improve the urban environment and attract new factories with a cluster of manufacturing companies, in pursuit of development of Gwangju-Songjeong area.

History
  • May 16, 1979: Changed the use of land for urban planning (Ministry of Construction and Transportation Notification no. 168)
  • March 25, 1980: Urban development project got government approval (South Jeolla Province Notification no. 132)
  • December 8, 1981: Ground-breaking (bidding committee for industrial complex designation and Hankuk Construction)
  • April 2, 1983: Notified as an industry development promotion zone (Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Energy Notification no. 83-12)
  • May 8, 1983: Completed
  • July 19, 1983: Designated as provincial industrial complex (presidential decrees no. 11949)
