Korea•China, seek a new direction of eco-friendly automobile industry

Gwangju-si, host Gwangju•Tsinghua Automotive Forum on December 1.
- A forum to discuss among great scholars of the eco-friendly automobile of Tsinghua University in China and in Korea
- Speeches on the eco-friendly automobile policy and technology in Korea and in China/ sharing the latest technology

Gwangju Metropolitan City announced 'Gwangju•Tsinghua Automotive Forum' will be held at Kimdaejung Convention Center on December 1 for two days to see the present and future of the automobile industry in Korea and in China.

This forum is co-hosted by Gwangju-si and Tsinghua University, a prestigious university of China, with the subject of ‘the current status and the future strategy of the eco-friendly automobile industry in Korea and•in China'. It is the first cooperative project between Gwangju-si and Tsinghua University which boasts a world-class level in natural sciences and engineering.

It is expected to be an opportunity to learn about the current status and technology of China, the world biggest automobile market as six professors of the department of automobile engineering, Tsinghua University in China, Beijing Automotive Group and Kowloon Motor Bus (KMB), which concluded an investment agreement with Gwangju-si, will participate in the forum.

Particularly, Yang Ti Engo, the dean of the department of automobile engineering, Tsinghua University in China will deliver a keynote speech with the subject of 'smart, cooperative network, electrically-driven; challenges and opportunities that Chinese automobile industry faces' . He is a top talent of thousand talents plan in China and actually participates in automobile industry policy so that his speech is expected to help understand the stream of Chinese automobile industry.

Professor Lee Sen Jin will give a speech with the subject of ‘development of Chinese automobile industry and the future drive elements' and professor Wang Ho-woo will do with the subject of 'development of new renewable energy and analysis of energy saving and reduction of pollutant emission in China' to cover the topic of Chinese drive technology and new renewable energy.

Professor Lu Lang-kwang will deliver a speech with the subject of ‘study on development of electric battery for power of the automobile and safety', professor Swai Sijin will do with the subject of ‘high efficiency hybrid engine technology and its development trend' and professor Chang Jon Zee will do with the subject of 'fuel cell based automobile technology and its development trend' to cover a technical aspect.

In addition, 'the research route and thought (사고) of the future core technology' by Wien Chong-en, the vice-president of Beijing Automotive Group from Chinese industrial world, and 'the development of KMB's new energy used commercial automobiles and its strategy' by Owoo Yang-kwang, the vice-president of Kowloon Motor Bus (KMB) will be an opportunity to learn about the change and trend of current Chinese automobile market.

As the representatives of Korea, Yong-geun Kim of the Korea Automobile Association will deliver a keynote speech with the subject of 'the future of Korean automobile industry' and Young-suk Park, the representative of the UN Future Forum will give a speech with the subject of 'change of the future society and the future of the automobile' to cover the topic of interconnectivity between the society and the automobile.

'The direction of Gwangju automobile industry strategy and policy' by Il-geun Oh, the president of Gwangju Green Car Promotional Center will be followed 'the recent trend of electric automobile drive motor technology' by professor Jeong-pyo Hong of Hanyang University, an expert of drive system technology in Korea.

In addition, professor Seung-il Mun of Seoul National University, an authority on a smart grid area, will deliver a speech with the subject of 'the future energy and the advert of the electric automobile era' and Byeong-gi Ahn, the director of Namyang Institute, Hyundai and Kia Motors, which is a representative of finished automobile businesses in Korea will do with the subject of 'the development of Hyundai Kia Motors and the future plan'.

As the last event of the first day of the forum, great scholars, experts and entrepreneurs in Korea and in China will deliver speeches on the subjects and participate in a panel discussion and on the second day, finished automobile companies of both countries i.e., Hyundai and Kia Motors, Kowloon Motor Bus (KMB) and Beijing Automotive Group will participate in a business discussion, which is expected to draw attention of automobile part suppliers.

The person concerned at Gwangju said, "Gwangju-si and Tsinghua University carefully selected speakers and subjects for this forum” and "the forum invited core people in automobile industry in each country so that we expect many scholars and experts from academia and industry in Gwangju area to participate in the forum to achieve in-depth technology exchange. We expect this forum to be a trigger to establish cooperative relationship with China in the future".
