Exhibition place: Biennale Exhibition Pavilion, Asia Culture Center, Mudeung Museum of Contemporary Art, Woo Jae Gil Art Museum, Uijae Museum of Korean Art, May 18 Archives, and others

2016 Gwangju Biennale, where 101 domestic and international artists/teams (120 individuals) from 37 countries participate with the theme of ‘THE EIGHTH CLIMATE(WHAT DOES ART DO?,’ intends to put art at the center of the stage when the worries on the general condition of art, such as instrumentalization of art and expansion of commercial art markets, are amplifying around the world.Maria Lind, Director of Art, has recommended the works that look into the contemporary issues such as the environment, labor, human rights, power, politics and social phenomena through the media of art and that are seeking the role of art not to be missed by the visitors.
